Run your GitHub Actions locally 🚀! Why would you want to do this? Two reasons:
Fast Feedback - Rather than having to commit/push every time you want to test out the changes you are making to your
.github/workflows/
files (or for any changes to embedded GitHub actions), you can useact
them to run the actions locally. The environment variables and filesystem are all configured to match what GitHub provides.Local Task Runner - I love make. However, I also hate repeating myself. With
act
, you can use the GitHub Actions defined in your.github/workflows/
to replace yourMakefile
💻: Go

A little about India, the food, the people and the culture
The Food
Panchadara Chilakalu (పంచదార చిలకలు, Sugar Parrots)
Sugar Parrots is an expression that is a literal translation from the Telugu words Panchadara Chilakalu. It refers in the original to pieces of colorful hard candy that is shaped like birds, often chilakalu or parrots. The candy birds are formed by pouring the molten liquid syrup into shapes connected by a string. They are sold as lengths of string, measured off by the vendor’s outstretched arm or tied into garlands worn around the neck by a young visitor to the fair or carnival. It’s a vintage Andhra tradition. It’s fading gradually away. Hence the sweetness of nostalgia.
The People
MC Prabh Deep (ਪ੍ਰਭਦੀਪ)
Delhi-based 24-year-old Punjabi rapper MC Prabh Deep quickly rose to fame when he rapped about the pitfalls of a highly competitive and slightly unjust education system. A high school dropout (by choice, not circumstances) himself, he worked as a salesman and a call center rep, before moving back to his first love: music. He released his first album in 2017 and today, 87.4K subscribers follow his YouTube channel to enjoy his great music.
The Culture
The Bikaner Camel Festival
The Bikaner Camel Festival is exclusively dedicated to the ship of the desert- the camel, which is an important source of transport and livelihood in the state of Rajasthan. This festival is celebrated each year in Bikaner in January and is very significant to the people of Rajasthan because in early times there were no automobiles and then camels were the only source of transport.
The Camel Festival is organized by the Department of Tourism of the Rajasthan Government in January every year in Bikaner. The festival begins with a colorful procession of bedecked camels against the red sandstone backdrop of the Junagarh Fort. Held are a tug-of-war contest, best breed competition, camel dance, and acrobatics among other things. The camels display amazing footwork, dancing gracefully to the directions of their trainers. Bridal bridles, bejeweled necks, jingling anklets, and camel shadows, cast a spell on the audience. In the evenings, is held a traditional rendezvous of renowned artists and folk performers.
