Open-source & India #20
Everyday Open Source Hardware & the Sekrenyi Festival and the Ghoti people
What are we discovering this week?
Hey there,
So I was looking into things made of paper because I am curious and want to use it someday. I came across a nice gadget called a smartwatch made of Epaper (Watchy). Now, this is something cool, this gadget is open-sourced but differently, I am used to seeing open-source things.
This is Open Source HARDWARE!!! and I am like that is so cool to have hardware open to the consumers too. I knew about it before, but seeing a nice-looking example of this makes me happier.
So this week we are talking about open source hardware, most of them should be available to purchase I think.

LilyGO-T-Echo by Xinyuan-LilyGO
LILYGO T-Echo is a version evolved from LILYGO T-BEAM.
At the beginning of the design, more consideration was to adapt to Meshtastic and SotfRF, so Bluetooth and low power consumption were considered when designing, and NRF52840 Advanced Bluetooth 5 was selected Thread and Zigbee multiprotocol SoC.
Features of the module
Multi-satellite positioning system L76K is a support multi-satellite system (GPS, BeiDou, GLONASS, QZSS), multi-system joint positioning and single system independent positioning, support AGNSS function, built-in low noise amplifier and surface filter, can provide users GNSS module with fast, accurate and high-performance positioning experience.
The display uses a 1.54-inch electronic paper display with front light, 200x200 resolution 1.54 front LED E-paper, and it can be used in a dark environment.
Compared with a single GPS, the high-precision positioning multi-satellite system greatly increases the number of visible and usable satellites, improves positioning accuracy, and can achieve stable high-precision positioning even in complex urban environments.
It supports the AGNSS function, which can greatly Reduce the time for the first positioning, built-in low-noise amplifier, can achieve high sensitivity, high-precision positioning and fast signal capture and tracking, even under weak signal conditions can also ensure a good positioning performance, built-in surface acoustic filter, can greatly The anti-interference ability of the module is enhanced, and the active antenna detection circuit and protection circuit are integrated inside to protect the module and the active antenna from damage.

4chord-midi by @anotherSven
4chord MIDI is a USB MIDI keyboard to simply play the four chords of the I-V-vi-IV progression. Why? Because The Axis of Awesome made it clear, all it takes to make a hit pop song is those four chords.
4chord MIDI functions like a regular USB MIDI controller just like any other MIDI keyboard, except it has only four playback buttons - and of course additional buttons and a LCD as user interface to adjust the playback. Playing just the chords as triads is a bit limiting after all.
Features
I-V-vi-IV chord progression in any key
Chord, arpeggio and mixed playback modes
Arpeggio playback in any tempo from 30bpm to 240bpm
User interface to selected key, mode and tempo

A little about India, the food, the people and the culture
The People
Ghoti people
Ghoti, also called Paschimbangiya or Edeshi, are a social group native to the state of West Bengal, locally called (Paschimbanga), in India.
Among the Bengali Hindus of India, the terms "Ghoti" and "Bangal"(Purbabangiya) are used as social sub-groups indicating the ancestral origin of a family.
The term "Ghoti" has been known to be used since at least the early-18th century. While all Ghotis are ethno-linguistically Bengali, the term does not refer to a single community of people, and was initially not bound by religion. Instead, it is geographic in nature, loosely referring to all Bengali-speaking inhabitants of the western parts of the historic region of Bengal.
The Culture
Sekrenyi festival
The Sekrenyi festival, known locally as Phousanyi, is a major annual festival of the Angami Nagas, among the many festivals held by them, in the northeast Indian state of Nagaland. It is observed for ten days from the 25th day of the Angami calendar month of "Kezei" (usually corresponding to 25 February in the Gregorian calendar) under the auspices of the Angami Public Organisation in association with many other organizations and the state government. It is a "purification festival" held to wash off all past sins. The objective of the festival is to renew and "make holy" by cleansing the "body and the soul" of the village as a whole, and to bring forth unity among all communities of Nagaland. It also marks the initiation of young people to adulthood and is considered an "identity marker of the Angami". The Christian converts among the tribals have gradually rejected these rituals.
